Y’art Project Photography представляет авторский мастер-класс Давиде Монтелеоне (VII Photo Agency) в Москве.
Один из самых значимых европейских фотожурналистов, трехкратный победитель World Press Photo и обладатель других международных премий Давиде Монтелеоне (VII Photo Agency) проведет в Москве авторский мастер-класс – второй из цикла семинаров по фотографии с европейскими мастерами, предложенный ассоциацией кураторов Y’art Project Photography (Young Artist Project) из Италии. Первый мастер-класс с коллективом TerraProject (Флоренция) при поддержке Hasselblad и Фотодепартамента прошел в Санкт-Петербурге летом 2012. Восьмидневный международный мастер-класс Давиде Монтелеоне будет проходить в Москве с 3 по 10 января 2013 года. Мастер-класс включает индивидуальную работу, в ходе которой каждый участник по своему выбору создает цельное фотоэссе о городе Москва. Каждый день занятий завершается коллективным обсуждением фоторабот, а также индивидуальным разбором фото участников и рекомендациями со стороны мастера.
Цель занятий – изучить процесс создания документального фотопроекта (от поиска интересного сюжета до финального редактирования), развить свой собственный визуальный язык и персональное фотографическое видение. Особое внимание будет уделено практическим аспектам профессии фотожурналиста.
ПРОГРАММА
Работа над документальным фотопроектом
- поиск сюжета интересного для периодических изданий и фотоагенств
- предварительный сбор информации об объекте работы
- сотрудничество с другими профессиональными фигурами (журналистами, фоторедакторами)
- различия в работе над личным проектом и проектом “на заказ”
Фотография как профессия
- Современный рынок фотожурналистики.
- Особенности международного фотопроцесса.
- Новые мультимедийные средства выражения.
- Подготовка личного портфолио для агентства, галереи, периодического издания.
Занятия будут проходить в Московской Школе фотографии и мультимедиа имени А. Родченко, что даст возможность участникам мастер-класса пообщаться со студентами и преподавателями одной из лучших фото-школ страны.
Во время занятий мы будем приглашать московских фоторедакторов и кураторов для встречи с участниками и обсуждения личных фотопроектов.
ВЕДУЩИЙ И АВТОР
Давиде Монтелеоне родился в Италии. Работает фоторепортером с 1998 года. Репортажи Монтелеоне регулярно публикуются самыми известными и влиятельными изданиями (The New York Times, Time, Stern, The New Yorker, L’Espresso).
C 2001 по 2011 гг. является членом известного итальянского агентства Contrasto. В 2011 Монтелеоне вступил в одно из лучших мировых фотоагентств VII Photo Agency.
В 2002 работает над проектом «Русская ДУША» и переезжает в Москву. В 2008 книга «Dusha – Russian Soul» занимает второе место на конкурсе IPA Award 2008 и получает приз Bastianelli Prize за лучшую «первую» книгу. С 2005 года сотрудничает с Французской Академией в Риме (Accademia di Francia). В 2007 получает награду World Press Photo за репортаж о Ливанской войне и TAF prize за книгу «Dusha – Russian Soul». В 2008 году Монтелеоне становится призером PDN Award. В 2009 году Давиде Монтелеоне вновь становится победителем World Press Photo, получив первое место за репортаж из Абхазии в категории «Повседневная жизнь». В 2010 году занемеет второе место на Sony World Photography Awards за проект о Дагестане. В том же году становится обладателем гранта Aftermath Project Grant за работу о Северном Кавказе “Red Thistle, Journey in the Northern Caucasus”. В 2011 году в третий раз получает премию World Press Photo в категории “Искусство” за репортаж о Миланской неделе моды. В том же 2011 году Монтелеоне получает грант Follow your convictions grant от фонда World Press Photo на развитие личного проекта о Средиземном море “Reversed See”. Проект “Red Thistle” становится первым на европейском конкурсе изданий European Publisher Award (2011)
Мастер-класс будет проводиться на английском языке с переводом на русский и итальянский (по необходимости).

Стоимость семинара 850 евро. Проживание, трансфер и визовый сбор в стоимость не включены. Организаторы готовы помочь с размещением во время пребывания в Москве, а также в получении российской визы.
Для молодых фотографов (до 28 лет) предлагается скидка 50%.
Для того, чтобы подать заявку как молодой фотограф, пожалуйста, отправьте нам копию вашего удостоверения личности (паспорт) и портфолио, состоящее не более чем из 15 фотографий. Портфолио может включать один или несколько проектов. Каждая фотография должна быть в формате jpegи весить не больше 1Мб.

Y’art Project Photography presents Photography Workshop in Moscow with Davide Monteleone (VII Photo Agency).
Moscow is a modern, dynamic and fascinating city. Being a great mix of Soviet era heritage, Orthodox religion and latest ambitious projects, the capital of Russia is the best travel destination for discovering the mysteries of contemporary Russia, with its innumerable faces. Moscow is so fast-paced that people call it “the city that never sleeps”.
At the same time Moscow with its strange mood – a mix of slavic and asian cultures, of old russian and post-soviet architecture is also one of the most longed-for places of interest for all photography lovers.
Moscow is like a pearl – most interesting things are hidden.
That’s why we are proud to involve the photographer Davide Monteleone as a teacher during this unique photography experience. Monteleone is young and talented photojournalist from VII Photo Agency working for years not only in Moscow but all over Russia. Among his most famous projects there are “Dusha” (“Russian Soul”), a photographic journey through Russia, and “Russian Caucasus“, a long lasting series dedicated to the vast territory torn by national conflicts.
We are convinced that the best way to explore Moscow is with a local guide and the best way to learn photography is a good teacher and the big challenge!
The particular characteristics of this one-week full immersion workshop is a strong attention to the practical aspects of the profession.
The goal is to learn the process of storytelling with photographs, to develop and preserve the personal vision in the professional work and to produce an elaborate photo essay about the city.
PROGRAM
This Moscow photography experience is organized in a simple way: there are the moments of face-to-face portfolio reviews with Davide Monteleone as well as group discussions. Monteleone will help students identify the good idea for a personal essay, develop their own photographic style, illustrating the entire process of creating a strong photography project.
Among many aspects of photography that we’ll consider during the workshop there are:
Storytelling with Photographs: from an idea to photo essay
- how to identify a good idea, interesting to editors
- how to do a research before to start a project
- why contact other professional figures like journalists
- which are the differences between the commissioned and personal work and many others
Photography as Profession: practical tips from a portfolio to photo agency
- contemporary photographymarket
- how to create a good a personal portfolio
- presenting yourself to a photo editor / curator / photo agency ect.
The Rodchenko Moscow Art School that will host our workshop during the week in January and will give us an opportunity to meet the students and professors of the school and to exchange our experience and ideas on photography. The School wearing the name of a famous russian photographer Alexander Rodchenko is part of Moscow Multimedia Art Museum and offers the unique educational program formed on the base of international experience (ICP New York, École National d’Arles, Rijksakademie (Holland), Academy of fine arts Vienna.
During the stay we will arrange a meeting with the Russian photoeditors and curators to exchange ideas, discuss the work and, why not, make plans for future projects.
DAVIDE MONTELEONE
Born in 1974, Davide Monteleone spent his first 18 years living in various cities in Italy, as his parents moved frequently for work. He gave up a study of engineering to move first to the US, and then to the UK, where he discovered an interest in photography and journalism. Back in Italy in 2000, he completed studies in photography and began to work with major Italian magazines. At the end of 2001, Monteleone moved again, this time to Moscow, where he lived permanently until 2003, working as correspondent for the photo agency Contrasto. This decision determined his ensuing career. He start working regularly with major national and international newspapers such as D, Io Donna, l’Espresso, The New York Times, Time, Stern and The New Yorker, to name just a few. Since 2003, Monteleone has lived between Italy and Russia, pursuing long-term personal projects and continuing his editorial work. He published his first book Dusha, Russian Soul in 2007, followed by La Linea Inesistente, in 2009. His photojournalism has won him numerous accolades, including the World Press Photo prizes in 2007 and 2009, the International Photo Award in 2008, an Emerging Photographer Grant, a Freelens Award and many others. In recent years, alongside the editorial work, he has started exhibiting and teaching. After 10 years working with Contrasto, In September of 2011, Monteleone has joined VII Photo.

COSTS AND REGISTRATION
The workshop fee is 850 euro. The accommodation, trip and visa expenses are not included. We are available to help you with the accommodation during your stay and provide Russian visa support.
The photography collective Y’art Project offers one Scholarship (50% of workshop fee) for young photographers (under 28 years).
In order to apply for the scolarship please send us a fotocopy of your Identity Card (passport) and a portfolio consisting max of 15 photos. A portfolio can be a selection of your work or a single project. Each photo must be in Jpeg format. The file no bigger then 1M.
Scolarship application deadline is October 15 2012.
The 10% off the price promotion is available for the applications before November 1st 2012.
The workshop is open for all nationalities. The translation in English will be provided.
